spring

Well I am no longer able to post to my blog from work so I don't get on as much.

Spring is finally here.  It was warm enough today to get part of the yard raked and check out my flowers that are popping up all over.

It is back to work tomorrow for me after being off for a week on spring break.  I cleaned the basement on Monday and took Bella to dance.  On Tuesday I took Bella to the pediatrician and we went shopping before my piano class.  On Wednesday we went to Dubuque to the River Museum and to the elevator, had dinner out and spent the night at a hotel with a pool  On Thursday we went to the "Field of Dreams" and the farm toy museum and had pizza in Galena.  On Friday Bella and I met my sister at the antique mall in Columbus.  Saturday was the usual which brings us to today and the yard.

I plan on a weigh in and a trip to the gym tomorrow.  I need to get my kid ready for a trip to Atwood.

Fall is on its way

Wow it has been a long time since I posted.  It was a good summer-very HOT!

In May I did the Tour De Cure bike race in Madison and did well.  I am glad I did all that bike riding at the Y.

At work we were short staffed so I did not get to take vacation with Scott and Bella.  They had a week off together and did things with grandma.

Bella went to camp all summer except for the week she spent with my siste in Appleton.

The dance recital went well-Bella is looking so grown up.

Bella had a zebra themed birthday party with crafts and a zebra stripe cake.

Bella started to play the clarinet over the summer and now has band lessons every Tuesday morning at 7:00 she does not like getting up early.  She is back in school-5th grade, back in dance on Monday (tap, jazz and ballet) and back in religion class on Sunday and just started gymnastics at the y.

We finally got some landscaping done at the house and it looks great although the window/screen porch project which started in May is still not done.

I turned 50 on September 1st and we had a really nice party at the house.

Bella and I went to the Quilt show in Madison and had a nice time.

I continue to have problems with my monthly cycle and I am tired of being in so much pain.  I will see the OB/GYN next Friday and hopefully we will have some resolution.

I have a plan with my good friend L that I call here each morning to make sure she is up to work out.  It has been nice connecting with her and I think she actually gets up and works out but I don't always sometimes I hang up, walk Lady and go back to sleep.  Not helping my weight issue.

I have been feeling rather depressed lately and I am not sure I will be able to pull myself out and may have to go into counseling again on on meds.  We shall see.

I love working at the Health System and I like the actual work that I do but my overall satisfaction is decreasing as a result of interpersonal issues and lack of stimulating projects.

I weighed in at 193 this am.  Maybe I can get below 190 by the end of the year.

May

First of May weigh in 195.4 pounds a small loss.  I know it is my own fault for not paying more attention to what I eat and not going to the Y as much.  It seems like I was always tired last month.

the highlights from last month: 8 CEU from an all day Saturday seminar on ICD 10 coding.  The fire trucks having to come to our house because the carbon monoxide detector was going off, getting a quote for window replacement on the sun porch.  Chaperoning the 4th grade field trip to MacTown.  Making Easter dinner for th in-laws.  Getting my bike tuned up, the dogs both going to the groomer.  The vet calling and saying Ben's tumor was cancerous.  I guess those are the highlights

We will see what the month of May will bring.

April

Another new month is here. On Saturday I weighed in at 196 but yesterday morning i was up to 197 but still less than the first of April. I slacked off on the gym last week. I was really tired and had bad cramps for one day. Feeling better now, but had a bad headache on Saturday. Spring is definately here and summer on its way. I have worked in the yard but way disappointed in what my skills will be able to do. I believe I will have to hire someone. House is still not put together either and I have fallen behind in scrapbooking.
Donna and Carl have arrived home from their winter trip and we have seen them a few times. things seem to be going ok, but I am still leary.

This is spring break for the kid who brought home a good report card and a AB honor roll certificate. She did have an issue last Monday when she was in the counselors office with Elise and Marley. Marley has evidently forgiven her and is back calling repeatedly.

Had a great visit with Lorretta last month. She came here! so excited to be back in touch with her. Won a $25 gas card and $25 restaurant gift card in the St. Patricks day drawing at the Y.

Took my bike in to get a tune up and I am looking forward to being able to ride again. Still practicing for the diabetes ride in Madison next month.

Busy at work with CW leaving for a new job at the end of the week. It should be interesting with him gone and to see who they hire in his place. I had my performance appraisal last month and it went well and I asked for the emply PIL folders to be moved from my office-so MM does not come in and out of my office. Pleased about that as she is rude!

I am back in touch by email with my friend PM and that is wornderful.

Scott, Bella and I are off to Milwaukee later this week for a couple of days to see the domes and the museum. The dogs will stay at Donna and Carls. Ben is doing well after his surgery now we need to get the dogs in for grooming.

I hope to write more often this month. Obese girl out.

New Month

A new month means it is time for a weight check. I got on the scale this morning and the reading was 198.4 which means I am down about three pounds from my weight on February 1. It is certainly a step in the right direction. I did go to the Y fairly regularly in February and just recently started riding a different exercise bike because the posturing is more like my real bike and I need to get ready for the diabetes ride in May.

For lent I gave up pop and chips. These are both hard for me as I use to use pop to satisfy my cravings for sweet. It is not too back on a daily basis but going out to eat is harder. 7 days down 33 more to go right. I am trying to stay away from candy and desserts too. I know it is a lot to control but it will be good for me.

Next week I will start the Eat Right For Life Wellness Challenge at work I will write about that as we go.

When I look at my happiness goals for February I did not do too well. I think I was too ambitious.

In March I plan to use a new Laundry plan
Try my yoga DVD
Continue with my scrapbook goal of 366 for 2012.
Keep the dining room table clear.

I will work on a few other things as well but those are the goals

Last week Bella and I went to the JC Penny outlet so I could look for a new swim suit as the one I have is a couple years old, fadded and stretched and I was not comfortable wearing it. I bought 2 new tank suits one is a 16W and one an 18W both are smaller that the 22 suit I am getting rid of. I would be lying if I said I look good in them but I do feel more comfortable when at the pool and we know the kid loves to swim. Scott's comment however was "you could see you from outer space in that suit" refering to the color which I don't feel are that bright but you stuff all my fat into it and maybe you can be seen from outer space. Who knows and who cares! I think that a "honey I am glad you found a suit you liked" and "good for you for fitting in a smaller size" but that would be wishful thinking wouldn't it.

Happy March-not sure if this is lion or lamb weather.

The Oscars

I am tired today as I stayed up late to catch the end of the Oscars broadcast. It seems like we go to the movies less and less because it is so expensive. Our most recent outings were to see "The Adventures of TimTim" and the Sherlock Holmes film. We use to go more often because we were members of the 5 buck club which allowed you to see a movie after it had been out a few weeks for $5. We use to also have a Cheap Seat theater her but that has closed. We tend to wait to see stuff until it is on DVD and get it fromt he Red Box.

This years Nominees for best film Included:

The Descendants
The Artist
Midnight in Paris
Hugo
Moneyball
War Horse
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
The Help
The Tree of Life.

Most of these I had at least heard of. The only one of these I have seen is The Help and I missed a little of that when I feel asleep. Since I have started getting up early (4:30) to work out at the Y it is hard for me to stay awake if we don't start a movie until Bella is in bed. I believe Scott may have seen The Descendants and Moneybal, neither of which interested me that much. I would like to see Midnight in Paris (loved Paris when I was there), Hugo (Bella and her class went to hear the author of the book speak this past fall), War Horse (although it is probably too violent and will make me cry), Extremely Loud and Incredibly close (really like both Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock), and I might want to see The Artist and The Tree of Life but I doubt if Scott would. I would also like to see The Vow which is out currently-I am sure it is a tear jerker.

After seeing the awards last night I thought I would create a list of my favorite movies. Below is my top 10 in no particular order.

Hildago-Loved this story and its based on true events.

The Sound of Music-One of my all time favorites, Love Julie Andrews and I love all the songs, Seeing the beautiful setting doesn't hurt either.

Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark-Loved Harrison Ford in this movie, It plays into my anthropology backgrount, it is exciting and has humor and they are looking for an interesting treasure.

Step Mom-Julie Roberts and Susan Sarandon-makes me cry everytime, but doesn't keep me from watching it.

Hope Floats-also makes me cry

Mrs. Doubtfire-cracks me up!

Forrest Gump-I will stop and watch this everytime I see it is on. Love the mix of history with fiction.

The Notebook-I am a sap for love stories-Loved the book too!

Second Hand Lions-great comic timing in this movie

The Blind Side-a great story, great acting.

I really like comedies but can't think of one I really love-"grumpy old men" pretty funny but I have not seen it in awhile.

I like annimated movies and with a kid I have see a lot. Shrek is good because of dialoge between Shrek and Donkey.

That's my movie wrap

Happy Valentines Day!

This morning over all the hecticness of a morning at the Meyer household which was even more crazy with it being a holiday. There were presents and cards and chocolate and reminders to the munchkin not to forget her valentines. I got a nice card from Scott and 2 reeses peanut butter cups and I thought that was cheap (no flowers-what is this?)

When I got back from lunch today there was a pro flowers box on my desk. It contained a vase and some pink, white and red tulips and a box of chocolates. I love tulips but I don't think my husband know it. I was really surprised because in all the years we have been together he has never sent me flowers to work. The girl at the front desk in my office gets flowers quite often (she is a newlywed) and I have mentioned this to Scott and his comment was "spoils if for the rest of us" I sure did not appreciate that comment but I sure love the tulips he sent.
